Will Be Staying in Beckenham Instead
Spent some time on the phone with my Uncle John and Aunt Wylda this afternoon, telling them about the flight information. Did this today since I discovered that the London-area 44-181 area code has now become 44-208, which explains why I didn't get through before. ;-) Turns out that my Aunt and Uncle have offered us the use of their place for the duration, which is located in Beckenham, instead of staying at my cousin Philip's flat in Orpington. This proves to be better, if only because it is closer to London, and to good transportation facilities. Am a bit uncomfortable about the prospect of putting my relatives "out", even though they offered, and I think I'll look for a B&B in the area when we arrive, just to make things go easier. Turns out my cousin Kenneth will be meeting us at the airport, whom I haven't seen for over 15 years. I better send him a picture of us so he know who we are when we arrive! ;-) Another Book?
Just got an email from my contact at Scarecrow Presssaying that they do not in fact provide advances to authors for their books. Since royalties are handed out only twice a year, and I don't expect the book to be done until November if I start now, the earliest I could expect royalties could well be next April at the earliest, assuming that the publisher effectively markets the book. Hmm. Am considering my options at this point -- think I'd rather do another book for another publisher and at least get something up front for my efforts. At least that's the way I'm thinking at the moment...
