Baby Names Chosen
Erika and I spoke about baby names last night. I thought things were still up in the air name-wise, but she thought that things had been pretty much decided. In the end I was convinced: "Ethan Henry" if it is a boy, and "Annie Evelyn" if it is a girl. There are family connections to just about each name. "Ethan" was originally going to be "Evan", and if Vanessa had turned out to be a boy, she'd be Evan instead. This was until we ran into umpteen little boys named Evan, and decided to go for something slightly different instead. Erika already has a cousin Ethan, so there's a nice family connection there with that name. "Henry" comes from my Father's name (which was "Albert Henry", but he always went by "Henry" -- as he once told me, he never liked being called "Al"). Funny thing is that I have a friend whose name is "Ethan Henry" -- have already explained this possibility to him, and he was both amused and I think a little embarrassed until I told him of the familial derivations of the name. As for "Annie Evelyn" -- "Annie" was the name of Erika's Grand-Aunt whom she was really fond of (and who I met once before she died), and "Anne" was the first name of my paternal Grandmother (who died long before I was born). "Evelyn" comes from my Mother's middle name -- neither Erika or I liked "Mildred" that much, which is my Mother's first name. The only name I had real qualms about initially was "Annie" -- it seems a little turn-of-the-previous-century to me, but in the time between the last discussion and this one, I've warmed up to it. Now we just have to wait another trimester to see whether or not it is a girl or a boy...
