Hot, Hot, Hot
Here we are in another one of Toronto's heat waves. Temperature yesterday was about 30C, today it promises to be higher. Wasn't so bad working in my basement office yesterday, where the temperature never got above 22C. But here I am at the Oakville office and there is no air conditioning, so this does not promise to be a fun day at work. Poor Vanessa has had heat rashes over the past two nights, despite our best efforts to keep her cool with air conditioning on her floor and the ceiling fan whirring at full tilt in her room. Last night I was up at 2am calming her down, trying to keep her from itching herself all over. The previous night Erika and I got up and gave her a cool bath laced with corn starch to make her feel better. All I can say is, thank god for hydrocortisone, which soothed her itch and enabled her to sleep. Still, I'd rather have this than a foot of snow blocking my doorway.
