Subject: I Just Saw The Second Building of the World Trade Center
Collapse

The NY City landmark is gone. Both towers, gone.

Lower Manhatten is nothing but a pall of smoke and debris.

I was working at home today. Glad I was. I first heard about this from an email coming from a collegue from work. I turned on the TV beside my computer monitor and tuned in to CTV Newsworld. Heard the news, saw a single tower of the building standing, and I thought to myself "aren't they called the twin towers?" I even checked a Web site to verify this -- and then I saw the second tower collapse on live television.

Erika arrived home with Vanessa and Annie soon after -- I came up and told her the news, and I couldn't stop from crying when telling her about it.

TV ended up being the best source of info -- couldn't get through to the CNN, CBC or the BBC Web sites during the morning. Only site I could get through to that had any substative info was Slashdot. And even that ground to a halt by about 11:20am. Best TV news coverage was from the BBC Worldservice, as broadcast on TLC. Found out from CityTV during the 6pm news that the major corporate centers in downtown Toronto had been shut down -- causing massive crowds waiting to go home, so just as well I was here.

Sent an email to my Uncle-in-Law, who lives and works in NYC. As of now (10:00pm), still haven't heard back, and I don't know if my Mother-in-Law has managed to contact him as yet.
