Xexon 7 Game MarqueeXexon 7
Today is a day off for me. I am extending the Canadian Thanksgiving Holiday by a couple of extra days off. However, I have pledged to do whatever minimal necessary updating work needs to be done on the corporate Web sites I maintain. Thankfully, at least for today, this was not a lot of work.

Had a lot of fun picking Vanessa up from The Art Garage, and having a leisurely stroll with her back home. She proudly showed off her Thanksgiving-themed artwork to me at The Art Garage. She nattered to me non-stop about all sorts of things. We stopped at the local Radio Shack to see if I could find a child-friendly trackball for her computer. No such luck, though I did get an educational game for her. Then, at a local candy shop she picked out a big, colourful lollipop for herself. Indulgent Dad strikes again! ;-) Then we made our way to Licks for a proper lunch. There were some very noisy young kids there with their respective Mothers there. Ear-splittingly loud at times, while their Mothers chatted to each other, paying their offspring little heed. It was nice to see Vanessa so well-behaved in comparison, though she too had a blast (though a quieter one ;-) when she joined in the fun with the other kids.

Other fun bit of news was hearing that the special back-lit printing job for my arcade unit had gone so well. This is the "marquee" image that appears above the game screen area, at eye-level. To keep costs down, three marquee images were combined into one and printed together at the print shop. Ali D. has done us all proud, and I am especially happy with the design he came up with. The guy on the left is the "All Your Base Are Belong to Us" guy, and the puzzled robot on the right is an image Ali lifted from somewhere on the Web and suitably modified. The name "Xexon 7" is derived from a radio comedy skit I did in my University days for a fabulous non-existent product that did absolutely everything. Somehow, it seemed like a suitably 80s arcade game-like name, so it seemed a suitable choice (Michael W. followed my lead on this and named his "Xyborg 3").
