Short Form, Long Form
More family history stuff: my cousin Howard C. emailed me that he will go digging after the "long form" birth and death certificate for our respective Grandfather, Grandmother and Uncle (or maybe our Great Aunt Annie instead of our Uncle, as I've suggested). The cost is not triffling: birth and death certificates for three of our relatives amounts to about UKP 40. Ouch! However, I will forward half that amount to my cousin, as agreed, to help defray costs. Over time, I don't doubt we will get more of these, especially if this proves a fruitful avenue in the research effort.

Am getting more and more interested in the prospect of visiting Liverpool. I know my now Late-Father was previously somewhat reluctant to visit the city on his ocassional returns to England, as it had turned into a downright grotty town, especially in the days of Maggie Thatcher. I understand that things have picked up considerably since then though, and I'd really like to visit the places where my Father, Aunt and Great-Great-etc relatives lived. Still, I look at this image of a place which is kitty-corner to my Grand-Father's old store on Holt Road, and wonder if I'll be venturing onto the "wrong side of the tracks" if and when I head to this part of Liverpool.

If and when I do visit Liverpool, I'll have to plan things well, as I'll likely only have a day or two on a weekend (assuming I visit during a business trip to England). Things I'd like to see include:

There's more I'm sure, and it'd be nice to indulge my Beatlemania interest and see some places that tie into the history of The Beatles while I am there too. (Hey, my Dad told me he once visited The Cavern Club you know. ;-)
