I have my reasons. If you're interested in taking a look, here it is. Comments? Suggestions on improving it? Let me know (replace the "AT" with an "@" in the email address -- it's an anti-spam measure which seems to work well).
It was a good exercise, since I've gained a lot of additional work experience since I last updated it. The general consensus is that the techie job market seems to be picking up -- if only evidenced by the recent head-hunter calls I and some other people I know have received of late.
Moving the Arcade Box Home
With a lot of help from Peter L., we lugged the big green monster out of the office, into his van, and then unloaded it at my place. We needed to move the behemoth down the stairs, and fearing death (or certainly extreme hurt!) by crushing should it fall down the stairs on one of us, we opted for taking the Western Digital monitor out of it first, which reduced the weight of the unit considerably -- enough so that death by crushing didn't seem as likely. ;-)
We managed to heft it downstairs, and just get it through the doorways and into the basement. I moved the monitor unit out of the way of little hands, as it its innards are wholly exposed (and the capacitors in that thing could be deadly). It's a good thing that the monitor is out of the arcade box, since now I can more readily tinker with the computer's display settings, instead of having to lug the whole unit out and not have a clear view of the tiny dial-resisters I'd have to twiddle otherwise.
