Erika had her birthday today. She decided to “celebrate” it by going to work. ;-)
I had to explain this to a few people who called the house over the course of the day – including her Father, calling from France – who wanted to wish her a happy birthday
I changed my work schedule so that I’d be working at home today. I ended up taking care of Vanessa for much of the day – she’s relatively easy to take care of now, and will play by herself when she needs to – while Annie went to a baby-sitter’s for the day.
Poor Annie always seems a bit stressed and very happy to see me when I pick her up from the sitter’s. The sitter takes care of a few kids, though Annie’s the only baby, and at least one older girl seems to think of Annie as a baby sister she never had, so she well cared for. But Annie’s not used to being with people other than her parents for the length of a day, so she is happy but agitated when I get her home.
Erika got home just prior to the kids being sent to bed, so she got a big welcome from both of the kids. I saw Erika’s truck come into the driveway and on a lark I took Annie down to the backdoor with me – she beamed and cooed and excitedly kicked her feet the moment she recognized her mother coming from the truck. ;-)
No major birthday events for Erika today – I had already given her the birthday phone she had asked for earlier in the month, and I had some plans for tomorrow.
