Today I wanted to get a birthday cake for Erika. In the afternoon, I told Vanessa about it, and told her to keep it secret. Of course she got all excited about it, and was bursting to tell her Mother about it, and she did. It was very funny, as I overheard it: [whispered] “We’re getting a cake Mommy, but it’s a secret, so don’t tell”. ;-)
So later that afternoon, still pretending to keep up the ruse, Vanessa and I headed out to “get milk and a newspaper”. We did that, and then we visited Tournayre Patisserie, where Vanessa picked out a chocolate cake. We snuck back into the house via the basement, and Vanessa proceeded to decorate the cake with a few finishing touches of her own: some “Barbie” rings and leftover decoration candies from her own birthday cake from a while ago.
Vanessa helped blow out the candles on the cake with her Mother, and we all enjoyed the insanely rich cake along with some Butterscotch ice cream.
