I think the job market is telling me something...
Today I got two emails from former work colleagues, saying that they had both managed to land jobs for themselves. I used to work with both of them at Sitraka (back when it used to be called KL Group). At one time Dave T. was my boss, head of technical writing at the firm (before I became their Webmaster) and I worked with Andy Y. directly when he was KL's graphic designer. Both are seasoned professionals with a lot of experience in their respective fields -- two people I would gladly work with again.
Dave T. had moved onto Everypath, and was recently laid off when they closed their Canadian operations.
Andy Y. had worked on several contract positions since leaving Personus (a Web-site building firm) about a year ago.
Dave T. landed himself a Marketing Writer position at Sitraka (yes, the firm he first left -- a quick hire by people who know him and his work well), and Andy has got himself a position as a U.I. expert at the CIBC, and I believe will be working on some of their online efforts.
I am happy for them both. This also bodes well for me, as they both landed jobs in fields not so dissimilar from my own, signaling that the jobs are now out there for those willing to seek them out.
