The Day Before
By late morning I had finally finished the borders section for the book. Just this section alone comprised about 50 pages, covering both revised and wholly new material. I figure I have about an equal amount to do before I can put that single chapter to bed. In fact, if the CSS3 spec dealing with borders and such had been published much earlier, I would have broken it down into its own chapter -- but as it is I pretty much have to shoe-horn it into a previously devised chapter dealing with all of the "box"-related properties. It made sense in the last book, but if there's ever a third edition I will definitely separate out borders from the rest.

Erika and kids returned from up north by late morning. I got the biggest grins from little Annie, and I made a point of spending as much time as possible with her, since I wouldn't be seeing her for a while.

The day was spent largely tying together loose-ends. It was a Sunday, but I needed to do some work on my company's Web sites, send out some emails, and help ensure I wasn't leaving anybody too much in the lurch.

Finished off the packing. Helped tidy up the house. Got a couple of extra house keys cut (we seem to have lost a copy or two); one for Erika's mother and one for Irene who will return as a nanny for Annie, taking her back to her home for the day, and then returning her to Jean in the afternoon.

We had dinner at Jean's. Afterwards, we said our goodbyes to Annie as she went to sleep upstairs. We got home, and settled Vanessa into her bed soon after. We stayed up a bit longer, finally taking some time to relax together prior to the onslaught of travel; waiting for us tomorrow.
