A Recuperative Sunday
Given the excursion of the previous evening, I was a little bit hung-over (though I didn't get my customary headache until the afternoon) the next morning. The kids of course did not sleep in...

Erika had an Argonotes thing to go to at mid-day, so I had the kids for late morning and early afternoon, spent at the local school park and the lunch from Licks.

Our neighbours next door held their yard sale today - which, given the nice weather and warm sun, would have been the sensible thing for everybody else in the triangle region - including us - to have done. We thought about putting our remaining stuff outside with them, but one day of yard sale was enough for me. Vanessa picked up some chapter book from the young girls who live next door. They were from the "Jewel Princess" series of books - lord, help me! Still, Vanessa enjoyed me reading to her the story of four little princesses who had magical jewels. (Oi!)

Erika had the kids for the afternoon and took them out to play with the other kids in the laneway, tiring them out further. Cutest thing was after dinner, while Erika was putting Annie to bed, I read the first the of Jewel Princess books to Vanessa, who curled up next to me as I read it. As I finished the final chapter, I noticed she was fast asleep. She stayed asleep as I gently hauled her up the three flights to her bedroom, out like a light.
