An utterly miserable day weather-wise. At least 10cm or so of snow, cold temperatures that dipped into the -20C range and a driving wind would make any journey outside lots of fun. I opted not to struggle to get the girls to their Saturday morning swim lessons instead deciding to take them to the open ceremonies at the newly re-opened Beaches Library.
Set up a play date for the girls with Naomi and Tevis, whom we were to meet along with their mother at the library in time for the kiddie entertainment slated for 1pm.
The new refurbished library looks great, and was full of people who brought their children to watch the show put on a by a child's entertainer. Interestingly, Vanessa opted to look at picture books in the children's books section while I stayed with Annie to watch and listen to the show. I think it was no so much that the kiddie show was "not cool" from Vanessa's perspective but that she was really drawn to the books.
Susan D. took all of the children back to her place at the conclusion of the show, leaving me some time to myself. I explored a bit more of the new library, caught a set of a local jazz trio and checked out some books, CDs and videos for the girls. It's nice to have the local library back.
Was planning to do some work when I got back home, but instead I crashed out until shortly before the girls were escorted back by car. Still recovering from the previous night I suppose.
Highlight of the evening for the girls was making an ice-cream smoothie. Got out the blender and dug out the ice cream and fresh fruit I had bought, they put it in and pressed the necessary button to liquefy everything in a most satisfying manner. Both of them eagerly drank up the results, though I though it nice that they both wanted to save the remainder for their mother.
They both went to bed with very little fuss soon after. A successful “Dad day”.
