Having just been paid by the University for the course I am currently teaching, I decided after the class to go out and spend some of it on some fresh CDs to listen to.
Went straight to my favourite used CD shop -- Penguin Music on McCaul just above Queen and came away with the following:
- Belle and Sebastian - Tigermilk
- The Beautiful South - Quench
- The Beautiful South - 0908
- Barenaked Ladies - Stunt
- The Pixies - Surfer Rosa
Was also looking for some 90s Britpop stuff -- like a compilation of songs from the Inspiral Carpets and the Charlatans UK -- but had no luck there. Have been listening to the recent Alan Cross radio shows on that era and realized that I only had a few scattered song of theirs from other contemporaneous compilations and wanted to make up for it.
Of course this is all destined for ripping and putting on my iPod. These days CDs for me serve only as a backup storage medium -- which also conveys the legitimacy of having a physical object that has been purchased.
