My Information Architecture Weekend (Part 1)
Erika took the girls up north, giving me the chance to work on my material for the next Information Architecture course, which starts up this coming Friday.

This course is a compressed, "intensive" version of usual course, covering in 10-days what is normally looked at over 8-weeks. It's one of the school's first forays into teaching during the summer months, something I pushed for.

One of the things I had agreed previously with the new director of the school was to compile all of my handouts beforehand, instead of just sending them in typically on the day they were needed. So my job this weekend was to completely revise and rework the material for the new format. In the end I managed to whip together a "book" of 473 PowerPoint slides comprising the handout materials for the course, plus about 20 or so pages of non-PowerPoint material. With a bit more work, there is a book in there...

Also got around to finishing off the final marks for the students in the previous class.

The weekend was not completely all work -- did manage to find the time to watch The Aviator. Pleasant surprise to see that DiCaprio can act. (He was good in The Gangs of New York, but is more convincing in the role of Howard Hughes in this film).

My second Information Architecture weekend comes next weekend, when I teach the course all day Friday and Saturday. Hope my new format for the course (which includes more hands-on during class time) works out.
