Unfortunately the new kitten, Tiger, has been lost. We knew she had a penchant for exploring when we discovered on Boxing Day that she had managed to sneak out under the feet of the fellow we had asked to take of the house (and kitten) while we were away, and had escaped for two days. Turns out that she had spent at least one of those days at a neighbour's. Late last week she somehow got out again, and we seen nothing of her since. She was (is?) very lovable, and the hope is that she has found a place with another neighbour. I've created "Wanted, Lost Kitten" posters for the girls to put up around the neigbourhood, so hopefully she will turn up.
In the meantime, we have adopted a puppy -- on a trial basis, for a week. While on a visit to France, Jean's Teckle dog "Yonder" was made pregnant by Joseph's Pooly "Bob". The result was "Yo-Bob". The result is a very lovable black little mutt who is very affectionate and whom the girls (all of them, including my wife) have fallen in love with.
I'm still pretty cool on the whole idea, as I have serious doubts that we are here enough to give the puppy the time and devotion it needs. And up until now, I am not really what you would call a "dog person". -- cats are more my speed. The real test is to see if my daughters behave responsively for the next week, so we'll see what happens. Given my mother-in-law's condition, taking the puppy off of her hands for a week is a good thing.
