I got the opportunity to work at home today, which allowed me to get to my daughter's performance of "The Lion King" at their summer camp.
Erika was away for the day in Hamilton working on a second unit shoot for the latest "American Pie" installment, so I was the sole parent able to make it to the performance at the girl's summer camp.
After working with (and sometimes fighting against) my new Vista machine, I headed out to the Main Street Recreation Centre to see the show.
It was very cute, as I expected. Vanessa, wearing a brightly be-feathered face mask played Zazou, the colourful bird advisor to the king. The whole thing done to the music soundtrack played on an adjacent boombox, she was very effective saying "you're too young" and "you can't do that yet" to the little boy almost half her height who played the lead lion cub. Lots of practice doing the same to her little sister, undoubtedly. ;-) Annie played the head of the hyenas, who's main part was the run away and go "uh oh!" when the grown cub growls at her. Both participated in various choreographed moves as well, which wasn't bad considering that they only had a few days to rehearse the routine.
The whole thing was very enjoyable and I shot most of it as a video on my digital camera for Erika to look over later.
