CBC Radio Canada
OH, SAY CAN YOU SEE... COURSE NOT, IT'S RADIO
CANADIAN COMEDIAN DAN REDICAN TARGETS AMERICA IN Dan Redican embarks on a hilarious tour south of the border in MR. INTERESTING'S GUIDE TO THE CONTINENTAL UNITED STATES, April 13, 14 and 15 at the Tim Sims Playhouse in Toronto. Presented by CBC Radio One, all three shows will be taped for future broadcast on Definitely Not the Opera as a six-part series. Joined by Colin Mochrie (Whose Line Is It Anyway?), Kathryn Greenwood (Wind at My Back) and Kathleen Laskey (Mail to the Chief), Redican bravely goes where so many have gone before. I mean, come on, we've all heard witty intelligent Canadian sharing their wisdom about the self-proclaimed "Greatest Country in the World" - But when was the last time we heard from a confused marginally insane man without the slightest speck of insight? Not recently. Watch him experience the wonders of the Grand Canyon or cut a swath of destruction across the Nevada badlands (oops, gave it away). And keep an eye out for his new sidekick, Eddy the Carp, who goes belly-up before the end of the journey (oops, gave it away again). In Redican's skillful hands Mr. Interesting fails to teach us anything about U.S. culture, geography or history. "Dan is an extraordinary talent. He has been on stage, is experienced on television and is even an accomplished puppeteer. But, most of all, he has an incredible gift for radio," says executive producer Anton Leo. "His off-beat observations of the United States probably come directly from him being in the midst of it, most recently as executive producer of MTV's sketch comedy show Lyricist Lounge. And with Kathryn, Kathleen and Colin - another Canadian who's also experiencing life in the States firsthand thanks to Whose Line Is It Anyway? - by his side, Dan delivers an especially witty perspective of our southern neighbours." The Tim Sims Playhouse is located at 56 Blue Jays Way. Show times for MR. INTERESTING'S GUIDE TO THE CONTINENTAL UNITED STATES are 9 p.m. on Thursday, April 13; 9 p.m. on Friday, April 14; and 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 15. Tickets are $10. The box office phone number is 416-343-0011. Remember, it's a completely different show each night. So come once, twice or thrice. Don't miss one hilarious minute of a statseside tour you'll never forget. |
