Canada Day Fireworks @ Woodbine Beach 2011

As usual, I headed down to the bottom of Woodbine Beach to see and photograph the Canada Day fireworks.

Had my trusty Olympus E-510 set up on a tripod and took these pics. Some are shot using the built-in “Fireworks” mode (which opens the shuttle for several seconds) and others were shot in “normal” mode, just to see what would happen. They seemed to have worked out pretty well actually, appearing less “streaky” than the ones with long exposures. See for yourself.

Small Chickadee on Tree Branch

Picture a picture of this little guy on a nearby tree branch, looking hungrily at the sunflower seed I have gotten into the habit of bringing with me when I walk with YoBob down by Woodbine Beach. Nice feather detail.

Chickadee Picture of the Day

Shot a picture of this little chickadee while out on a walk with the dog down by Woodbine Beach.

Love the details of the fine feathers on its back.

Silhouetted Seagull, Snowy YoBob

Another walk down by Woodbine Beach with the dog, and more pictures of birds.

Cardinals Down by Woodbine Beach

Went for a walk with YoBob down by Woodbine Park, and brought along some sunflower seeds to feed the birds down there. Last time I only managed to attract some Chickadees, but this time I caught the attention of a pair of cardinals, who posed for me while they assessing the risk of flying down to grab their share of seeds while a large predator was nearby with a funny-looking device pointed at them… 😉

Victoria Day Fireworks by Woodbine Beach 2010

Took my trusty Olympus E-510 along with a tripod down to the foot of Woodbine Beach, basically straight down from where I live, to shot this year’s Victoria Day fireworks display. The one that follows is my favourite, which shows the fireworks as well as their reflection in the waters of the lake:

Here’s a selection of some of my other favourite fireworks shots from earlier tonight:

Greater Scaup Ducks by Woodbine Beach

Saw a pair of Greater Scaup Ducks down by Woodbine Beach while walking the dog. Managed to get both of them in the single shot you see below:

Iced Branches

Sometimes on cold days down by Woodbine Beach, water droplets splash onto trees and plants close to shore, encasing them in ice. Here are some shots I took:

Tree Hanging Out Over Woodbine Bay

Walked the dog down by Woodbine Beach this morning, took the following shot of a dead tree dangling out over the bay.
