Keith’s Astronomy Photo of the Day
It may not be as impressive as the usual daily APoD site, but late last night after finishing some work at around 1:30am I managed to take some pictures of the Moon and Mars with my Nikon Coolpix camera. While the image below is a composite (taken from one image with an interesting background and another with a non-completely blurry rust-coloured dot that is Mars), the results are more impressive than I would have thought from a regular digital camera.

Moon and Mars Composite

Mars is certainly hard to miss at the moment, and yesterday morning I was even able to see it in the morning daylight hours before it set along with the Moon.

Am planning on taking Vanessa to the big "Mars Fest!" happening at the Ontario Science Centre at the end of the month, when Mars is at its closest to since the beginning of recorded history.
